Community involvement
For some years now, Giovanni and Mariangela have been making a modest contribution to support The Goedgedacht Trust.
The Goedgedacht Trust was established in 1993 around the donation of a farm called Goedgedacht, which is located on the slopes of the Kasteelberg just outside Riebeeck Kasteel, some 85km north of Cape Town.
The Trust is run by a Board of Trustees and supports a number of initiatives, principally the Path out of Poverty (POP) program, which seeks to transform rural communities, by offering the most recent generation of children the opportunity to become healthy, self- confident, educated young people who are then able to take up leadership roles in their own communities. The POP centres focus on Education, Health, Personal Development and Care for the Planet.
WPS has recently adopted this initiative as a means of involving our team in a regional initiative which seeks to uplift previously disadvantaged communities and allows all our staff to make a difference to nation building.

Market Update: What the US Bond Sell-Off Means for South African Investors
US Treasury yields hit their highest levels since 2007 in August, highlighting that investors are losing their patience with the US’s mounting government debt exposure and failure to bring inflation down to its target.
Usually, the US’s woes become South Africa’s. But remarkably, domestic assets haven’t been caught up in the sell-off so far. The attractive carry trade is holding up the bond market and strengthening the rand. The question is how long the good times can last.
